
Georgia Southern Theatre Presents “The Amen Corner” by James Baldwin
The Amen Corner tells the story of Margaret Alexander, a single mother and pastor. Alexander must face
the consequences as a secret from her past forces her to reevaluate the role of religion and family. She is faced with this choice as her son stands on the brink of manhood and must choose his own path.
Directed by Mical Whitaker, this production is the 35th anniversary of the first performance of this script on the Georgia Southern Stage.
The show opens on November 7th and runs through November 14th. Curtain is at 7:30pm evenings and 2pm for the Sunday Matinee.

The upcoming panel for The Amen Corner is titled “The Legacy of James Baldwin and Integration at Georgia Southern University”. The panel will be exploring James Baldwin’s writings and the current social issues of today which will lead into a conversation about the Integration at Georgia Southern University, looking back, examining today and exploring the opportunities of tomorrow as we celebrate an impressive history of African American Theatre.
