Fair Week in Statesboro is one of the best times of the year to explore all the family-friendly activities the Boro has to offer before heading to the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair in the evening.
Kick off the week with the Fair Parade at 5pm on Monday, October 13th in downtown Statesboro. It’s a hometown favorite filled with themed floats, music, and plenty of community spirit.
During the day, there’s lots to keep families busy around town. Visit the Georgia Southern Museum to learn about dinosaurs, fossils, and the region’s natural history, or stop by the Center for Wildlife Education to see eagles, reptiles, and other native animals up close. Later, head to the fairgrounds to meet barnyard favorites and exotic animals at the livestock shows and petting zoo.
The Botanic Garden at Georgia Southern is another great stop, offering peaceful walking trails, children’s garden spaces, and a glimpse of the area’s natural beauty before enjoying the outdoor fun of the fair midway.
For hands-on creativity, spend an afternoon at Southern Pottery, where kids can paint their own keepsakes, much like the handmade crafts you’ll find on display in the fair’s exhibit halls. Or, if your family is looking for more action, head to The Clubhouse for bowling, mini golf, laser tag, and arcade games that are perfect practice for the games and prizes waiting for you on the midway that night.
Don’t forget to save your appetite for the Kiwanis Pancake House and all the fair food favorites you can only get once a year. From warm pancakes and sausage to fried twinkies and smoked turkey legs, it’s the perfect way to end a full day of family fun in the Boro.
