Think you’ve got the best Chili in the Boro? Here’s your chance to prove it! Join us in Chili Town on December 6th at the Downtown Statesboro Holiday Celebration. It’s FREE to enter and registration is easy. Forms can be filled out online, emailed to becky@visitstatesboro.org or dropped off at the Visit Statesboro office at 222 S. Main Street.

FOR CHILI CONTESTANTS: This competition is open to organizations, businesses or amateur chefs. Chili Town will be located across from City Hall where participants will be assigned a 10×10 space with access to power. You must bring and set up your own tables, tents (if you so desire) and decorations. Set up begins at 3:00pm. Set up must be completed by 4:45pm and judge’s chili samples will be collected at 5pm. Sample cups and spoons will be provided for all samplers to be made available at tables.
CHILI TOWN WILL OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AT 5:30 P.M. Please have at least 4 to 5 gallons of chili on-hand for the public to sample for voting in the People’s Choice category. Participants are expected to bring their own condiments such as crackers, sour cream or cheese. Participants must also have a visible SIGN with the team name and bring their own extension cords to power all electrical units.
Each participating table must provide team members to serve chili during the Chili Town hours. Volunteers are not available to man any booths or tents for this event!
FOR CHILI TASTERS: Admission to Chili Town is FREE and open to the public. Tickets will be available for purchase to vote in the People’s Choice category for $1.

What’s Brewing in October
With the temperature cooling down (a bit) and football season in full swing, you’ll find lots to do when you visit Statesboro this month! The family friendly events are plentiful! A great one to kick off the month is GreenFest in downtown Statesboro on the 6th. The 57th Annual Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair begins on the 15th for a week full of thrills and chills on the midway plus the famous Kiwanis Pancake House is a tradition that brings people back to the Boro year after year. Scare on the Square will pack downtown on the 27thwith Trunk or Treaters and zombies who will close the night with Michael Jackson’s Thriller dance through the streets. Looking for adult only entertainment? Break out the boas and stilettos for the Rocky Horror Picture Show LIVE on October 26th and 27th at the Averitt Center for the Arts.

As the weather begins to change with cooler temperatures, easy breezes in the air and falling leaves, we begin to think about pumpkins, corn mazes, hayrides, costumes and apple cider.
